Utah & BYU AP top 5 Basketball History

Majerus had the Utes rolling in the 90s, BYU’s Stan Watts took the 1955-56 Cougars to #5.

BYU men’s basketball has reached the AP Top 5 three times—each for a single week.

  • 1955–56: Peaked at No. 5

  • 1987–88: Climbed to No. 3

  • 2010–11: Reached the Top 5 for one week

Utah men’s basketball tells a different story.

The Utes have reached the AP Top 5 in six different seasons, spending a total of 30 weeks there—including 11 weeks in 1996–97 and 9 weeks in 1997–98.
