The Art of the Date
❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Why Cultivating Connection is Our Newest Mission
Life along the Wasatch Front is uniquely beautiful, but it is undeniably busy. Between chasing professional ambitions in Silicon Slopes, navigating the winter inversion, and shuffling kids from school to soccer practice in Draper or Sugar House, the days can easily blur into a chaotic, exhausting routine. We pride ourselves on our incredible work ethic and our fierce dedication to our families, but in the midst of that beautiful chaos, a critical question often gets lost: What about "us"?

When was the last time you and your partner truly connected? Not just a passing high-five in the kitchen while packing lunches, or a synchronized scroll through social media on the couch, but a genuine, intentional moment of shared joy?
Welcome to "The Art of the Date," the newest section of Mountain & Main Magazine. We are thrilled to introduce this dedicated space designed exclusively for you. Because we believe that amidst the sprawling growth, the mountain adventures, and the daily grind, your romantic partnership deserves a permanent spot on the front burner.
A Foundation Built on Connection
Our publisher recently shared a profound thought with our editorial team: A household is so much more than just four walls and a roof–it is the very classroom where lessons are learned, where people learn to love, and where we navigate the complexities of human emotion.
We wholeheartedly agree that a strong, healthy relationship is the bedrock of a thriving family and, by extension, a thriving society. The health of a community doesn't just start in city halls or corporate boardrooms; it starts at the kitchen table. It starts with two people who are committed to nurturing their bond.
"At Mountain & Main, we want to do our part to make the world a better place. One way we are going to do that is by making it easier for our readers to have loving relationships that last," said Publisher Tyler Tebbs.
That is the beating heart behind this new section. We aren't just giving you restaurant recommendations; we are giving you the tools, the inspiration, and the gentle nudge you need to prioritize your partner.
The Wasatch Canvas: Your Playground for Romance
We are incredibly fortunate to live in a region that practically begs us to go out and explore. Utah's unique geography and vibrant local culture provide an endless canvas for romantic itineraries.
Spring along the Wasatch Front means packed calendars.
It is the perfect time to shake off the winter chill and step out together.
Instead of the standard dinner-and-a-movie, imagine surprising your partner with a daytime date to the Thanksgiving Point Tulip Festival. You can stroll through 50 acres of gardens, taking in the sights of nearly half a million tulip bulbs imported from Holland. On Fridays and Saturdays, you can enjoy live music, food trucks, and artisan vendors–making it far more than just a walk through pretty gardens. (See #2 in the Top 10 Events this spring and summer.)
If downtown energy is more your speed, you might plan an elegant evening around a performance at the Eccles Theater. Or, as the weather warms up, you can build a weekend date around the 50th Annual Utah Arts Festival at Library Square. With a sprawling, four-day showcase of visual art, live music, dance, film, street theater, and culinary artistry, it is the ultimate setting to hold hands, discover new local talent, and create a shared memory. The "I Told You So" Moment
Let's be honest for a second. We know exactly how this magazine is going to be used in homes from Salt Lake to Lehi. One of you is going to read this article, enthusiastically fold the corner of the page, slide it across the kitchen island, and playfully announce, "See! I told you so! Even the magazine says we need a date night!"
To which we say: You are incredibly welcome.
We want to be your ultimate wingman. If you have been craving more quality time, let us do the heavy lifting. Point to our pages and blame it on us. Let our curated itineraries be the spark that gets you both out of your sweatpants and out on the town.
What to Expect in 'The Art of the Date'
So, what exactly will you find in these pages each month? We are designing this section to be your ultimate toolkit for romantic maintenance and relationship wellness. Here is a glimpse of what is to come:
Curated Itineraries: We will provide step-by-step, done-for-you date night plans. Whether it is a timeline-based guide for a night downtown in Salt Lake City, a scenic canyon drive with hidden culinary stops, or a progressive dinner along the S-Line, we will handle the logistics so you can focus on each other.
Relationship Wellness: We will feature expert advice from local Utah professionals on communication, keeping the spark alive, balancing marriage with the beautiful burden of parenthood, and practicing intentional connection.
Creative and budget-friendly Ideas: We recognize that not every date needs to break the bank. We will share brilliant ideas for at-home dates, free community events, and unique, low-cost local experiences that prove romance is about presence, not necessarily price tags.
Seasonal & Local Highlights: We will help you build dates around Utah's unique offerings, ensuring you never miss the best concerts, festivals, and culinary pop-ups the Wasatch Front has to offer.
A Call to Reconnect
Dating your spouse or long-term partner is an art form. It requires intention, creativity, and a willingness to step outside the comfortable routines we all build to survive the week. It is about looking at the person across from you and remembering that they are not just your co-parent, your roommate, or your financial partner—they are your chosen person.
As we launch this new journey together, we invite you to make a pact. Commit to one date this month. It doesn't have to be perfect, and it doesn't have to be expensive. It just has to be intentional. Let Mountain & Main be your guide, and let the beautiful Wasatch Front be your backdrop.
We are so excited to bring you "The Art of the Date." Here is to stronger bonds, lasting love, and making our corner of the world just a little bit better, one date night at a time.
