How’s Your Garden Growing?

Show us what’s coming up in your backyard — and you could win a gift certificate to a Wasatch Front nursery. Mountain & Main is giving away over $300 in the “How Is Your Garden Growing” giveaway.

There’s a particular moment every Wasatch Front gardener knows. You step outside with your morning coffee, and the tomato that was green yesterday is suddenly, unmistakably, red. The zucchini you planted in May has, overnight, become a situation. The basil is asking to be pinched back. The carrots are pushing their shoulders out of the soil like they’re trying to tell you something.

From Ogden to Provo, from raised beds in Bountiful to backyard rows in Riverton, people are growing real food along this stretch of mountain shadow. Mountain & Main wants to see it.

We’re launching How’s Your Garden Growing, an ongoing reader feature that runs in print, online, and across our social channels. Snap a phone photo of whatever you’ve got going — a single ripe tomato, a Saturday harvest basket, the herb garden by the back door, the pepper plant that finally turned color, the whole backyard in full summer swing. Tell us in a sentence or two what you’re growing and how you plan to use it. Send it in.

Selected submissions get featured. And every entry is automatically dropped into a drawing for gift certificates to a Wasatch Front nursery — $150 first prize, $75 second prize, and five $20 bonus drawings.

One drawing, end of season: September 1, 2026. That gives you all summer to submit — and we want the whole arc, not just the harvest. Send in the early shots, too: the first true leaves, the trellis going up, the kid with dirt on his hands. The June tomato that’s still just a hard green knuckle. The August counter piled with everything ripening at once. We want all of it.

All gardens welcome. All skill levels. The terrace tomato in a five-gallon bucket counts. So does the quarter-acre back lot with the deer fence.
