Ogden's live music scene has plenty of character. Peery's Egyptian Theater, a beautifully restored 1920s movie palace on Washington Boulevard, brings touring concerts to one of the most striking rooms in the state. A few blocks away, Funk 'n Dive keeps things loud and local with weekend shows from Ogden and Salt Lake bands in a former speakeasy. Know Before You Go: A 1924 movie palace restored to its original elegance, built to replicate the courtyard between two Egyptian temples during the King Tut craze — the atmospheric ceiling still shifts from desert sunset to a sparkling night sky over the course of a show. About 800 seats, all reserved. Closest parking is the garage behind the theater on Kiesel Ave, $6 and wheelchair accessible; ADA drop-off is in the Key Bank lot on 25th Street. Lobby doors open an hour before showtime, house doors 30 minutes before. Tickets through Etix. Programming comes from several presenters — Onstage Ogden, Ogden Musical Theatre, Chamber Orchestra Ogden and the theater's own film series — so ticketing and age policies vary by show.

Know Before You Go: A basement bar in a former Prohibition-era speakeasy, with brick walls, cheap drinks, and a kitchen known for its vegan menu. The upstairs is now Harp and Hound, an upscale gastropub under the same ownership, so you can have dinner upstairs and head down for the band. Directly across Washington Boulevard from the Ogden Amphitheater. Weekend shows feature Ogden and Salt Lake bands, from indie and punk to hip-hop showcases and DJ nights, usually 9 PM until just before last call, with a $5–$10 cover at the door. Weeknights bring a comedy-focused open mic that also welcomes solo acoustic acts, free poker on Tuesdays, and trivia. 21+.
